There are many online image compression services, but they are not always reliable long-term. Websites disappear, features change, and some tools fall behind newer image standards. WebP, for example, has become one of the most important image formats for modern websites because it can significantly reduce file sizes while maintaining good visual quality.

Using online services can also slow down the workflow. Uploading images, waiting for processing, downloading them again, and repeating the process becomes inefficient when working with many files. A local desktop application is simply faster.

One of the most useful features for our own SEO work is the Bulk Image Compressor and Resizer. This also means the application can be used as an image converter. For example, you can load a PNG or TIFF image and create an optimized WebP version.

Yes. Animated GIF and WebP images can retain their animation when saved as GIF or WebP.

When an animated source is converted to JPEG or PNG, those formats use the first output frame rather than preserving the animation.

Yes. Enable “Inherit EXIF metadata” to preserve supported metadata from the original image when creating a JPEG or WebP file.

You can also open the EXIF Editor and modify the metadata before saving.

Yes. The EXIF Editor includes an option to clear the editable EXIF metadata from the compressed image.

You can also leave automatic metadata inheritance disabled if you do not want the original EXIF information copied into the output.

In normal single-image use, the compressed image is saved as a separate file at a location you select.

Bulk mode also uses a separate target folder. If no target folder is specified, a “compressed” subfolder is created automatically.

If files with the same output names already exist during bulk processing, the application asks before overwriting them.
